SAN DIEGO, CALIF. — May 22, 2013 – Summa Education, a premier college admissions, enrichment and SAT test preparation company headquartered in San Diego, will honor local high school students, teachers and a counselor who epitomize educational excellence at the inaugural Summa Summit Awards event on June 8 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the University Club in downtown San Diego.

“At Summa we work with the best students, teachers, and counselors every day. The Summit Awards provides an opportunity to honor their hard work and gather the community to celebrate their achievements,” said Summa Founder and CEO Christopher Hamilton.

Summa Education will be funding the following cash and sponsorships to the following recipients:

• Summit Student Award: Four students who have demonstrated high academic achievement, exceptional leadership, and who have contributed in a unique way to the community will be awarded honorariums.
• Summit Teacher Awards, Humanities and Sciences: Two teachers with a genuine and exceptional commitment to their students, classrooms and community will be awarded honorariums for the benefit of their classrooms.
• Summit Counselor Award: A counselor recognized for their commitment to students will be awarded hotel and airfare to attend the 2013 National Association of College Admissions Counselors conference being held in Toronto, Canada.

Noted student performers Claudia See and Reece Akana of the San Diego Youth Symphony, and former Summa students, will be performing at the event.

Sandy Climan, president of Entertainment Media Ventures, will be featured Keynote at the event, speaking on “Creative New Media.” Climan will be taking questions from the audience. As a venture capitalist, producer and media visionary, Climan will be discussing the technological and economic trends facing students as they prepare for college and beyond. Climan has been active in entertainment, most notably as Producer of “The Aviator” motion picture. Climan also serves on the boards of The American Cinematheque, The Fulfillment Fund, The Chief Executive Leadership Institute of the Yale School of Management, and the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He is a member of the Advisory Committee to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and also serves as an advisor to the World Economic Forum and its Annual Gathering in Davos, Switzerland.
